The University Pastor's Office is seeking applications for a Ministry Associate to serve in an internship capacity in campus ministry. This is a full-time, 12-month position beginning August 2017. This is an hourly paid position at $8.65 per hour. Housing in a shared apartment will be provided if needed, along with 160 campus meals per semester.
The Ministry Associate/Intern will attend ELCA events to help recruit Lutheran students to the university, assist with worship, develop student musicians, and strengthen the campus ministry programs.
Essential function include, but are not limited to:
On behalf of Wittenberg University, and for professional development, attend various ELCA conferences and gatherings such as the 2018 Youth workers Extravaganza, the 2018 National Youth Gathering, synod youth gatherings, synod assemblies and Lutheran camps, staffing Wittenberg table as needed, and presenting workshops when possible.
Assist with church-related recruitment events on campus, such as Seminary Sampler and Campus Ministry Overnight, youth group overnights, and Visit Days.
Assist University Pastors and the Office of Admission in recruitment efforts.
Develop student leaders for a worship band to play for an evening worship service, for weekday chapel or Sunday mornings when needed, and other opportunities.
Support campus ministry organizations with planning and programming such as leadership training and assisting in planning retreats.
Work with Pastors on special assignments such as interfaith projects, community service, etc.
Enhance social media presence to advertise the campus ministry.
We are seeking applicants with a bachelor's degree and 3 to 12 months of relevant experience.
Additionally, we are seeking applicants with:
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint.
Strong ELCA knowledge.
Ability to play guitar and lead musicians.
Experience playing with a worship team.
Ability to develop leadership in other musicians.
Involvement in ELCA-related campus ministry.
Experience in ELCA Youth group and/or church camp experience.
