Military Prayer Banner & Prayer Book Project
Lead by Pastors Janelle Rue and Joe Schrock
Prayer banners will be created during this project to be shared with troops overseas. Participants will place their hand prints on the banners and/or will write a short prayer for our service men and women. We will also pray over the banners.
In addition, participants are asked to purchase Prayer Books for the Armed Services from Augsburg Publishers and write an encouraging handwritten message or prayer in the front cover. Please write to 'Service Member' or 'Service Family Member' so the books can go to any branch of the military. When ordering the books from Augsburg, tell them you are ordering for the Southern Ohio Synod Assembly and shipping should be free. We will also pray over these books before sending them to be distributed. Messages can also be written on site.
This service project is in support of our synod's resolution to support or military and military families.
Lead by SOS WELCA Human Trafficking Task Force
SOAP stands for 'Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution.' It is a nationwide project to provide small bars of soap with the toll free rescue hotline number on them in hotels/motels across the country to assist in rescuing victims from human trafficking. Participants in this project will help wrap the bars of soap with the hotline information and pray over the soap for the victims of this modern day slavery. Completed bars will be distributed across the country as needed.
Here is a 20 minute TedTalk video by Theresa Flores about the SOAP Project and her own story of human trafficking and freedom.
